Option 3: Montreux and Chillon Castle, Lavaux Region, and Rocher de Naye

Montreux is located in a place we like to call the Swiss Riviera. Lake Geneva is glorious from this side. There are steep mountains beside the lake which makes the place photogenic. The famous Montreux Jazz Festival is held here in July. Chillon castle is one of the most iconic ones in Switzerland. Lord Byron famously etched his names in that castle. The lavaux region is UNESCO heritage for a few years now. It is remarkable how the vineyards grow well on such steep slopes (like rice terraces). If you want to walk 1-3 hours and also do wine tasting, this could be an option. On a beautiful sunny day, why not go up to Rocher de Naye? There’s a lovely mountain train that leads you to Rocher de Naye from Montreux train station. You can enjoy a lovely lake view and mountain view from a local summit. These options are easy to reach by train.

Option 4: The Matterhorn

If you’re planning a longer trip, you can also consider visiting the Matterhorn, which is one of the most iconic landmarks in Switzerland. A day trip would be exhausting coming from Geneva by train, but it’s still possible.
