Cycling route – Geneva countryside around the left bank

As we’re in the age of COVID-19, I’ve decided to document cycling paths I’ve taken around Geneva, particularly those that do not venture out of the border.

In this first post, we explore the left bank and its countryside as well as the Rhone river on a 40 Kilometer loop. We start the path at Geneva Jet d’eau, making our way to the Green Path (Voie Verte – the old rail line to France) towards Annemasse, before which we will circle our way on the contour of the French border at Veyrier. From there, we head towards Troinex, the lovely village of Croix de Rozon and Perly, as we cycle along beautiful countrysides of Geneva.

Between Perly and Bernex you’ll see the local summit of the State of Geneva(around 550 meters), it is surrounded by vineyards and is a good place to have a picnic.

From there, we’ll head over non-paved paths along the Rhone river, where you will sometimes have to carry your bikes because of stairs. Please check the trip summary for the map(the GPX file is also available for download).
